Interactive Remote Experimentation for Active Learning
Designed with STEM education in mind, IREAL stands for "Interactive Remote Experimentation for Active Learning." It is an ongoing project aiming to facilitate the implementation of scientific lab experiments in a higher educational context.
• Provides open education lab access
• Require initial digitalization phase
• Records various media and measurements
• Each experiment is accessed through a tailored interface
• Any number of students can access it at the same time
Hydraulic jumps in a tilted channel.Hydraulic jumps are observed when a torrential flow in an open channel is obstructed by a weir. The settling location and the step amplitude of the hyd...
The objective is to learn how PID regulation works and how gains affect system stability. The basic concepts of dynamic system control are illustrated by stabilizing a helicopter platform...
Experimental study of vibrations on plates by sprinkling them with fine sand. We obtain figures of Chladni, named after the founder of modern acoustics. The grains of sand move towards ar...
Lab experiments are accessible from anywhere, at any time, on any device.
Experiments are captured from real physical installations and never simulated
Once digitalized, lab experiments are never out of order
Lab experiments are possible regardless of the number of students in the class.
The IREAL platform is hosted in the secured ISAE-SUPAERO datacenter, situated in France.
You can use all experiment labs you have access to in your courses.
A specific process has been set up to support the digitalization of new experiment labs. The operations are based on a collaboration between the (remote) campus lab and the IREAL team.
As IREAL capture real experiment and there is no mathematical model used to compute experiments results, we cannot consider it is simulation. It's a deferred real experiment.
